SL Power Electronics caters to three primary market segments: Medical, Industrial, and LED. The LED market is further segmented into three specific applications, one of which is Horticultural Lighting. This goes to show SL Power’s focus and commitment to developing solutions tailor to address the needs of OEMs in this space. This is achieved through extensive new product blueprinting and a rigorous stage-gate NPI process.
Horticulture or grow lights represent a significant opportunity for LED Lighting. This market is expected to grow to over $5 Billion annually by 2022 due to the growth of indoor farming practices, government initiatives to encourage the adoption of solid-state lighting (SSL) technology and rising demand for energy-efficient and long-lasting grow light technology. Retrofitting of current installations and the movement toward vertical farming – indoor framing on multiple levels – represent the largest opportunities. LED lighting is preferred by most growers due to the overall cost savings and the fact that LED lights offer variable spectrums that make them suitable for a large number of plants.
When creating power supplies for Horticultural Lighting, SL Power’s primary focus is to minimize our customers’ power consumption, installation expense and the cost associated with cooling facilities. SL Power offers a range of solutions up to 600 watts that are ideal for vertical farms and large indoor grow centers. These solutions are developed to optimize the five key performance criteria known as TREPP (Thermal Management, Reliability, EMI/EMC, Power Density, and Power Efficiency). This is best embodied by the LE Series, which are LED Drivers that are considered to be the best in their class when considering their compact and rugged design that delivers exceptional power density, while at the same time, weighing less and taking up a smaller footprint than other commercially available products.
